Safety Begins Every Morning at the Tailboard Briefing:
Every morning each project crew performs a tailboard to discuss and document the daily work plan, assess and address the job hazards, identify the necessary personal protective equipment, and review the emergency response plan.
Friday Morning Corporate Safety Meetings:
Every Friday morning, all available employees gather at ECI’s training room for the weekly safety meeting. The meeting is led by owners Ken & Scott Pidgeon. The safety presentation is made by ECI’s safety officer, Ken Pidgeon, an employee, or an outside guest. Topics vary but may include:
- The OSHA Focus Four (falls, struck by, caught-in, and electrocution)
- Equipment, Vehicle, and Tool Safety
- Material Handling Hazards (silica, cement, asbestos, etc.)
- Personal Protective Equipment
- General Health Topics (heart disease, stroke, flu prevention, etc.)
- Stretching & Physical Fitness
- General Environmental Hazards (heat/cold exposure, blood-borne illness, etc)

Our employees have specific safety training for their particular work assignments, which may include the following:
- OSHA 10 Hour
- Excavation & Trench Safety
- Fall Protection

- Confined Space Supervisor (29 CFR 1910.146)
