Safety Focus of the Week: Equipment and Vehicle Blind Spots
Working around vehicles and heavy equipment requires special attention and PPE. There are a couple of things to consider upon entering a site:
- Be visible to all equipment operators. Make sure they see and acknowledge you before moving towards their work area. Wearing high visibility safety vest is always a good idea.
- Everyone should immediately assess the pattern of equipment movement: Where are the equipment tracks showing where equipment typically moves; What are the swing zone of excavators; Where are dump trucks driving and backing
