Safety Focus of the Week: FMCSA Driver Qualifications
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is responsible for administering the federal regulations governing the trucking industry. The regulations are far from simple. It is somewhat helpful to understand that the regulations are basically set up to regulate the driver, the vehicle, and the employer and that the requirements for each might be somewhat different, sometimes described in different terms, and not always consistent. Despite the ambiguity, both ECI and our drivers have a duty to understand and comply with the applicable regulations.
