Safety Focus of the Week: Eye Protection
Our eyes are one of our most precious personal assets and deserve the highest level of protection. As a general rule, we should always be wearing eye protection on an active jobsite and our yard/shops unless we’re working behind a windshield, or if there are no significant eye hazards. In these atypical cases, eye protection should always be readily available for use.
Selection of the minimum eye protection should be determined from an evaluation of the potential eye hazards. In most cases, ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses are required to protect us from potential hazards. More hazardous conditions might require the Z87.1 in addition to a face shield.
In addition, certain clients or jobsites may have very specific requirements for eye protection.
