Safety Focus of the Week: Emergency Spill Response
- Stop the spill if it is safe to do so
- Use spill kits; saw dust, or earth material to prevent the spill from spreading
- Contain the spill, keep the material out of bodies of water (Catch Basins, Rivers, Streams, Lakes)
- Wear the appropriate PPE while cleaning up the spill
- Place material in a lined container, trash bag inside the spill kit, or a drum.
- Report the spill to your Supervisor
