This weeks topic is a reminder to be aware of the dangers involved in our work. A great approach to this is VELCO’s STAR Protocol:
Stop – Don’t jump into a situation
Think – About your situation and the potential risks
Act – Proceed with the task with the necessary precautions
Review – Occasionally to consider changes to your situation
The essence of the STAR Protocol is for each of us to be aware of and to correct the dangers around us and our coworkers. Project leaders are in the best position to step above the action which allows for the best perception of a bad situation and, for that matter, to best direct a project in nearly every way.
