Bridges
Contact: Ben MacKinney: bmackinney@ecivt.com
Bridges consist of abutments, piers, superstructure, and deck. ECI has a variety of skills applicable to bridge construction and bridge repairs: engineering, piling, excavation/backfilling, channel diversion, concrete construction, fabrication, erection, shoring, rigging, paving, and railroad construction. We also have experience with highly specialized bridge construction such as automation of a swing span bridge and design/build of bridge shoring for rehabilitation of the superstructures.
Unlike most bridge contractors, ECI is particularly skilled at bridge rehabilitation work, especially on railroad bridges. Rehabilitation involves significant engineering for the means & methods: temporary shoring, jacking the bridge off its bearings, demolition, etc. Railroads frequently add a severely restrictive time constraint to this work. Many of ECI’s railroad bridge projects involve a “blitz” operation of bridge component replacement during shutdowns of 48 hours or less which involve highly coordinated planning.
