Jim graduated in 1987 from Saint Michael’s College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Jim began his career at S.T. Griswold Company where he served for over ten years with positions in purchasing, dispatching, and sales including precast, masonry, and concrete.
Jim joined ECI in 1997 serving as a paving estimator. As Jim’s role has evolved from estimator, project manager, to a vice president, he has helped to create one of the largest non-supplier paving and milling operations in Vermont. Under Jim’s leadership, ECI has complete milling and paving capacity to provide these services on driveways, parking lots, highways, and the interstate. The ECI paving and milling crews also perform technical paving work on bridge approaches, railroad crossings, and airports.
Jim’s role as Vice President of Paving at ECI includes providing complete oversight to the Market Group. Responsibilities include setting expectations for superintendents and foreman, review and execution of awarded contracts, assigning supervisory teams on all new projects, coordinate with superintendents, foreman, labor, and equipment dispatchers on general global needs for projects, perform all preconstruction administration, review/approve subcontractor agreements, maintain metrics on all active projects, recruit new staff, and conduct employee performance reviews. Jim balances all the paving and milling needs of ECI projects while also providing these services to our clients.
Jim champions the prequalification efforts for the firm. Several of our clients require the annual submittal of prequalification information ranging from professional experience, personnel resumes, company accounting information, project performance metrics, total project backlog, and references.
Jim has been a member of the Associated General Contractors of America for 35+ years.
Jim is married and has two grown daughters who live in the area. He enjoys boating and exploring Lake Champlain in the summer and skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. He also enjoys watching both Saint Michael’s College and the University of Vermont basketball games.
